Sarah is the first single on Bonnie & the Mere Mortals' 2023 album, Live & Unplugged at the Club Cafe. This song was performed live in front of a studio audience at Pittsburgh's premier listening room, The Club Cafe. A murder ballad, Sarah deals with the conflicting emotions and trauma of being raised in an Appalachian coal town, and how one might control their own destiny.

By a creek in a one stop sign town
Started to smoke before she got her last tooth
Took the car for joy rides around
The boys all knew since her daddy was gone
Filled his fist with a bottle instead
That sara grew up in the family way
And she mostly considered him dead

Things get around in a 1 church town
But thats the price of being pure instead
Just plant the seed of a better-than creed
And no one will know that it’s dead
Sarah got on and she got around
Or at least thats what they said
before those boys could reach a pedal of lead,
